A hernia that re-appears at the site of a previous surgery is known as an incisional hernia. These hernias can occur weeks, months, or even years later and can vary in size from small to very large and complex. If you think you have a ventral hernia, make an appointment with Dr. Dunning in Ogden as soon as possible. If ventral hernias are left untreated, they may widen and become much more difficult to repair.

Dr. Dunning can repair most incisional hernias with minimally-invasive ventral hernia surgery in Ogden. He uses laparoscopy to remove any scar tissue and insert surgical mesh into the abdomen. The mesh is fixed under the ventral hernia defect to the strong tissues of the abdominal wall. Dr. Dunning will use mesh to reinforce the weakened area of the abdominal wall which helps to prevent reoccurrence.
